James Gunn has confirmed that a major DCU project, the Teen Titans movie, is still far from ready. Fans were hopeful it would begin production soon. However, the delay has gone beyond what fans expected.
James Gunn Clarifies Teen Titans Script Rumors
On Threads, a fan asked Gunn if he had read Ana Nogueira’s script for Teen Titans. Gunn replied:
“It doesn’t exist. She’s been on [Wonder Woman] for a while.”

This response contradicted earlier reports from Deadline, which claimed Gunn and Peter Safran had praised the Teen Titans draft as “an amazing script.” To clear up the confusion, Gunn added:
“I don’t understand. We said the script’s not finished there. I asked Ana to move to [Wonder Woman] to finish that first and she did.”

He also emphasized that DC Studios has never received a completed Teen Titans script:
“We just have never read a script.”
This DCU Project Isn’t Moving Forward—Yet
The “amazing script” comment from earlier this year wasn’t even referring to Teen Titans. Gunn clarified:
“The ‘amazing script’ mentioned then was actually about Ana’s Supergirl script, which is why we hired her for Teen Titans and other stuff.”
So, while Teen Titans is still part of DC Studios’ long-term plans, the project isn’t currently in active development. Ana Nogueira is now focused on completing Wonder Woman first, meaning this DCU project could still be years away from production.
DC Studios Is Prioritizing Other Projects First
Although Warner Bros. executive Michael De Luca previously stated that Gunn and Safran were working on a live-action Teen Titans, Gunn’s comments tell a different story. Since there’s no finished script or production timeline, DC has essentially shelved the Teen Titans movie for now.
Meanwhile, DC Studios is focused on other projects like Superman and Supergirl. So, for now, fans will have to wait patiently for any movement on the shelved DCU project that is Teen Titans.
