Tim Drake Confirmed as Robin in Batman: Knightfall

In response to a fan’s question on Instagram, Adams went on to clarify, explaining:

“No, bro. It’s old school Tim [Drake]. He’s so good in it.”

This confirmation excites longtime DC fans, as they celebrate Tim Drake for his intelligence, detective skills, and loyalty to Batman. By including him, the film stays faithful to the original Knightfall comic storyline while appealing to fans of past adaptations.

Production and Release Details

The film adapts the legendary Knightfall storyline into a multi-part animated series, officially titled Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall. Additionally, Jeremy Adams leads the writing team, while Jeff Wamester takes on directing duties. Production is already underway, and consequently, the movie is scheduled for release in 2026 by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

Notably, this marks the first DC Universe Animated Original Movie since the two-part Watchmen adaptation in late 2024. While the team has not revealed casting details, they promise a faithful and action-packed adaptation.

Plot and Character Context in Batman: Knightfall

The official synopsis reads:

“When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.”

Consequently, this storyline provides rich material for exploring Batman’s resilience, strategy, and, moreover, his relationships with allies like Tim Drake.

Tim Drake, the third Robin, played a central role in the original Knightfall comics. His previous portrayals in the DC Animated Universe and the live-action Titans series have established him as a beloved character. Including Tim Drake allows the film to honor the comic legacy while introducing his character to new audiences.

Fans can expect a dark and intense narrative with psychological challenges and thrilling action, while the inclusion of Robin adds depth and emotional resonance to Batman’s story. The film also promises stunning animation, faithful character designs, and a careful adaptation of iconic comic moments, making Batman: Knightfall a landmark entry in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, set to deliver an unforgettable experience in 2026.
