Ben Affleck’s time as Batman may have come to an end in The Flash, but his friend Kevin Smith believes that we haven’t seen the last of him in the role.

In a recent episode of his Fatman Beyond podcast, Smith discussed the topic of Affleck’s Batman career. He noted that Affleck had said in interviews that he was “never going to go back to Batman,” but Smith also pointed out that there is a multiverse in the DC  universe.

“You know, I could see a world where ten years from now, after he’s lived a bunch of other life and done other things,” Smith said. “I know Ben loves The Dark Knight Returns in a big bad way. So I can’t imagine if somebody backed up a money truck ten years from now, and said to a f*g nearly sixty-year-old Ben Affleck ‘Do you want to do The Dark Knight Returns?’ He might say ‘Yeah,’ and that would be glorious.”

Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns is a seminal Batman story that has been praised by fans and critics alike. The story follows an aging Bruce Wayne who returns to his role as Batman to fight crime in a dystopian future.

If Affleck were to return to the role of Batman for The Dark Knight Returns, it would be a dream come true for many fans. Affleck has already shown that he can portray a grizzled, older Batman in The Flash, and he would be perfect for the role in The Dark Knight Returns.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Affleck will ever return to the role of Batman. However, Kevin Smith’s comments suggest that it is a possibility. If Affleck does decide to return, it would be a major coup for DC.
