DC recently released an R-rated clip of Amanda Waller after announcing a solo streaming series for the character. The clip showcases some of Waller’s R-rated adventures, highlighting the harsher nature of James Gunn’s take on the team of misfits. Gunn has been teasing his work on another The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker-related project for quite a while, with the Waller series set to follow Viola Davis’ merciless ARGUS leader.
DC Studios leads James Gunn and Peter Safran announced several new projects in January, including the Amanda Waller solo streaming series. While Waller first debuted in 2016’s Suicide Squad, it seems like her time as an important DCU character is only just beginning. The Waller series does not have a release window yet, but it looks set to be the third new project to release in the new DCU, likely in the fall of 2025.

The R-rated clip released by DC Comics puts the spotlight on Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller. The promo includes a clip from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, with Idris Elba’s Bloodspot spouting profanity at Waller. With Peacemaker managing to get an equivalent higher rating, it’s likely that the Waller series will also be R-rated or, more precisely, TV-MA since it will be a series and not a movie.

Considering that Gunn previously focused on The Suicide Squad characters with an R-rated mindset, it’s likely that the Waller series will follow suit. While the filmmaker has been busy with Superman: Legacy, hopefully, he can still find time to make a proper sequel to The Suicide Squad. In the meantime, audiences can catch Peacemaker streaming on HBO Max.
DC’s R-rated Amanda Waller clip reminds audiences of the character’s upcoming solo streaming series. With James Gunn leading the project, it’s likely that the series will be R-rated or TV-MA, much like his take on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. The Waller series does not have a release window yet, but it looks set to be the third new project to release in the new DCU, likely in the fall of 2025.
