DC Studios is rapidly expanding its DCU streaming slate, and now, it has officially confirmed a new addition. In particular, the latest DCU Series in development at HBO and Max is none other than Booster Gold. Consequently, this announcement marks the sixth series in the ever-growing lineup of interconnected shows under James Gunn’s leadership. Furthermore, it highlights the studio’s continued commitment to building a cohesive and diverse universe.
Booster Gold Becomes a Major Player in the New Lineup

Booster Gold has officially received a pilot order. If the project is greenlit, then Our Flag Means Death creator David Jenkins will take on the role of showrunner. Furthermore, his creative involvement hints at a unique blend of humor, science fiction, and character depth, which could add a fresh dynamic to the overall tone of the series.
The show will follow Michael Jon “Booster” Carter, a fame-hungry hero from the 25th century who uses futuristic technology and historical knowledge to reinvent himself as a modern-day superhero. Additionally, he’s known for his flashy persona and constant need for public approval. As a result, Booster Gold could bring much-needed levity and meta-commentary to the broader DCU Series slate.
Meanwhile, James Gunn addressed recent rumors, firmly denying claims that Kumail Nanjiani will play the lead. DC Studios has yet to confirm the casting for Booster Gold as development moves forward.
All DCU Series Confirmed for HBO and Max
Booster Gold now joins an exciting slate of DCU Series in active development. Here’s a full list of the six projects currently confirmed:

- Lanterns – A gritty, grounded crime drama starring John Stewart and Hal Jordan. The show is expected to debut in 2026 and has been compared to True Detective.
- Creature Commandos Season 2 – The R-rated animated series returns with a writers’ room for its second season, continuing the story of this anti-hero team.
- Waller – This DCU Series centers on Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller and her work with ARGUS. Although still in development, the project has faced some delays.
- Paradise Lost – Described as a Game of Thrones-style drama, this show explores the origins of Themyscira long before Wonder Woman’s time.
- Booster Gold – The newly confirmed DCU Series, now in the pilot phase and poised to bring time travel and satire into the mix.
DC Studios continues to craft a diverse and ambitious lineup of shows. From intergalactic detective mysteries to mythological epics—and now a fame-seeking time traveler—the expanding DCU Series aims to redefine superhero storytelling on the small screen.
