DC is taking its universe into a terrifying direction with their upcoming event, Knight Terrors. The event will be a horror-themed series launching in the summer of 2023, featuring two-issue miniseries that will show heroes or villains facing a horrific fantasy within a “Nightmare Realm.” The event will be written by Joshua Williamson, with art from Howard Porter and Guillem March, among others. It will run throughout July and August.
DC has promised that Knight Terrors will be a fun and horrific event that brings together all the heroes and villains of the DC Universe, along with some surprises. The event’s premise involves Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman finding the body of one of their earliest enemies at the Hall of Justice, which leads them on a journey beyond the land of the living and the dead and into a realm of nightmares. The only hope for saving the world lies in the help of an unlikely hero, Deadman.
Williamson, who is also writing the horror-themed Dark Ride for Image Comics, said, “I love horror comics, and it’s been a blast bringing the energy to Dawn of DC. Knight Terrors showcases the horror side of our heroes as a brand-new villain confronts them with their worst nightmares. It’s a fun and horrific event that brings together all of the heroes and villains of DC, along with some surprises!”
Fans will get their first look at Knight Terrors on Free Comic Book Day with Dawn of DC Knight Terrors Free Comic Book Day Special Edition, which comes from Williamson, Porter, and Chris Bachalo. The special issue will feature Robin in the lead role, as he faces horrors invading his teenage dreams.
Knight Terrors is part of the “Dawn of DC” yearlong publishing initiative that began in January 2021 with Action Comics #1051. Other series that are part of “Dawn of DC” include Superboy, Man of Tomorrow, Superman, Unstoppable Doom Patrol, Green Arrow, Titans, Shazam!, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Green Lantern, Cyborg, and more.
The Knight Terrors event promises to be a thrilling and terrifying ride for fans of horror comics and the DC Universe. With an all-star creative team and a compelling premise, the event is sure to leave a lasting impact on the DC Universe.
