With the upcoming Dawn of DC initiative, DC Comics is poised to introduce a range of new titles and rebrand existing ones, with the goal of telling bigger and bolder stories across their line. Among the characters set to get a new ongoing series is Oliver Queen, better known as Green Arrow, who will be getting a fresh new look in his upcoming book.

The new Green Arrow series is set to be written by Joshua Williamson, one of DC’s most prominent architects, with art by Sean Izaakse. The story picks up after the events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, a major event that reshaped the DC Universe and led to the introduction of a new timeline. In the series, the Emerald Archer is lost, and it will take his entire family to find him, all while dangerous forces conspire to keep them apart.

Williamson has promised to use all of Green Arrow’s extensive mythology in the series, with many of his classic villains set to make an appearance. The writer also teased that the true villain of the series might surprise readers.

The cover for Green Arrow #2 gives us a glimpse of Oliver’s new superhero costume, featuring some armored grey elements, a wider green hood and cape, and technologically advanced parts of his bow and arrow. The cover also showcases a new character that has yet to be named.
The Dawn of DC initiative will include the launch of new titles like Unstoppable Doom Patrol, Green Lantern: Hal Jordan, Green Lantern: John Stewart, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Titans, Cyborg, Shazam!, Steelworks, and The Penguin, as well as rebrands of existing books like Action Comics and Superman.
DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee has promised that Dawn of DC will be one of DC’s most ambitious initiatives ever, with brand-new series and story arcs from some of the top creative members in comics.

All in all, the upcoming Green Arrow series and the Dawn of DC initiative offer a lot of opportunities for DC to showcase beloved characters and tell new and exciting stories. Fans of the Emerald Archer, in particular, should be excited to see what Joshua Williamson and Sean Izaakse have in store for Oliver Queen in the coming months.
