The latest DCU rumor roundup has sparked new discussions among fans. Recently, multiple reports and theories have surfaced online. These include speculation about James Gunn’s future at DC Studios, possible casting news for The Batman – Part II, and several other updates involving the broader DC universe.
DCU Rumors About James Gunn’s Future at DC Studios
Speculation about James Gunn’s future in the DCU began gaining traction after comments made by John Campea during his YouTube show.
According to Campea, Gunn might eventually step away from his leadership role at DC Studios following discussions about a potential merger involving Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global.
“I am 100% sure that before the end of the year, James Gunn is going to go to David Zaslav and say, ‘It’s been nice, but there’s no way I’m working for those guys. So, can you please let me out of my contract?’ And I think David Zaslav will let him out of his contract.”
Campea also speculated that Gunn could ultimately return to Marvel Studios.
“I think he’s going to end up back at Marvel, and he will become Kevin Feige’s heir apparent to take over Marvel after Kevin Feige finally goes,” he added. “That’s what I think is going to happen. That’s the road map that I see happening here.”
He continued explaining why he believes Gunn might not remain at DC Studios.
“I just can’t imagine a scenario that James Gunn – because we all know how James Gunn feels about Donald Trump – whether you think he’s right to feel that way or whether you think he’s wrong to feel that way, we all know how James Gunn feels about Donald Trump, and Ellison’s are Donald Trump’s little fk toys,” Campea went on. “So I just don’t see any reality in which James Gunn stays. He’s gonna quit.”
However, Campea later clarified that these statements represent his personal speculation rather than insider information.
Insider Responds to DCU Exit Rumors
Meanwhile, entertainment insider Jeff Sneider addressed the ongoing speculation during an episode of The Hot Mic.
While Sneider admitted he does not have inside information on the situation, he expressed doubt about the theory that Gunn would walk away from the DCU so soon. After all, Gunn has already invested significant time and effort into building the franchise’s long-term roadmap.
Therefore, many fans believe it would be surprising if Gunn left before seeing those plans through.
Daniel Craig Reportedly Linked to The Batman – Part II
Apart from leadership rumors, casting speculation for The Batman – Part II is also making headlines. Reports suggest that the film could begin shooting next month if production continues as planned.
While the filmmakers have reportedly filled most major roles, one character still draws attention: Christopher Dent, the troubled father of Harvey Dent.
Earlier reports claimed that Daniel Craig received an offer for the role. However, the same report suggested that the filmmakers might consider Liam Neeson if Craig decides not to accept the part.
Jeff Sneider expressed skepticism about the rumor, especially because of Neeson’s reported involvement. Nevertheless, he has heard that Christopher Dent will play a “significant” role in the sequel.
Timothée Chalamet Could Join a Comic Book Movie
Another rumor currently circulating online involves Timothée Chalamet. According to online scooper MTTSH, the actor is “finally up for a comic book role.”
However, it remains unclear whether the potential role would be part of the DCU or a project from Marvel Studios. As a result, fans have already begun speculating about which superhero or villain Chalamet could potentially portray.
Clayface Movie May Reference Batman
Meanwhile, Clayface will headline an upcoming DC film that arrives in theaters this October. However, some online scoopers say fans should not expect a Batman cameo, although the Dark Knight may still receive a reference in the story. If true, this approach could allow the film to expand the darker side of the DCU while still acknowledging Gotham City’s famous protector.
Zack Snyder Celebrates Watchmen Anniversary
Elsewhere in the DC world, director Zack Snyder recently celebrated the anniversary of his iconic comic book adaptation Watchmen. To mark the film’s 17th anniversary, Snyder shared previously unseen photos taken during production.
“17 years ago today we released Watchmen. I shot this while we were filming—an old piece of 1940s Watchmen history sitting on set. That whole world had such a specific mood. Still incredibly proud of this movie. One of my favorites.”
Even years later, the film continues to hold a unique place among DC adaptations.
Overall, the latest DCU rumors show how much activity and speculation currently surrounds the franchise. From debates about James Gunn’s future to possible casting developments for The Batman – Part II, fans have plenty to discuss.
However, until official announcements arrive from DC Studios, these reports should be treated as speculation. Still, they provide an intriguing glimpse into what the future of the DCU might hold.
