The fate of Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s new DC universe slate remains uncertain, but the actress is still set to appear in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. It’s worth noting that both Shazam 2 and The Flash are part of the last four DCU movies to come from the old regime before James Gunn’s slate kicks into gear afterward. Therefore, whether Gadot’s Wonder Woman makes the final cut of those movies shouldn’t be taken as an indication of her chances of returning to the new DCU.

In the original “Flashpoint” storyline, Wonder Woman played a pivotal role as her homeland of Themyscira went to war with Aquaman’s kingdom of Atlantis. However, there has been no evidence to indicate Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is, or was ever, in the movie, This suggests that Wonder Woman’s appearance may be smaller than fans hope.

James Gunn has already confirmed that Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman will be recast, with the futures of Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Momoa’s Aquaman, and Ezra Miller’s Flash still undecided. This may be due to the extensive roles they still have to play in the old guard’s four remaining DCU projects coming this year.

The merchandising often gives clues to what’s coming in movies but only time will tell the fate of The Flash’s Wonder Woman appearance.

While there is still some uncertainty surrounding Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in the DC universe, the recent Funko Pop images offer a glimmer of hope for fans who are eager to see the character return to the big screen. With The Flash hitting theaters in June, audiences won’t have to wait long to find out what the future holds for this beloved hero.
