Any Hope Left?
The Snyderverse, a term coined by fans to refer to director Zack Snyder’s vision of the DC Comics universe, has been a topic of discussion among fans and industry insiders since the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021. Despite the film’s success, many have wondered whether the Snyderverse will continue in any capacity, and if so, where and how. In recent days, the matter has been thrust into the spotlight once again, with a tweet from James Gunn, director of the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel, causing a stir among fans.
In his tweet, Gunn stated that “1) Netflix hasn’t expressed any such interest (although we’ve discussed other stuff) & 2) Zack hasn’t expressed any interest & seems to be happy doing what he’s doing.” This statement has caused some disappointment among fans who had hoped for the continuation of the Snyderverse on the streaming platform, but it also raises an important question: does the Snyderverse still have a chance?
The answer, as Gunn himself stated, ultimately lies with both Netflix and Zack Snyder. While the platform has not expressed any interest in continuing the Snyderverse as it stands, that does not mean that the door is entirely closed. If Snyder and Netflix were to discuss the possibility of a new project set in that universe, or even an alternate version of it, it could still come to fruition.
At the same time, it’s important to consider Snyder’s current priorities. As Gunn mentioned, Snyder seems to be happy with his current work on the Rebel Moon franchise for Netflix, and it’s possible that he may not have any interest in returning to the Snyderverse at this time. However, as fans know all too well, things can change quickly in the world of entertainment, and it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Snyder may revisit the Snyderverse in the future.
Fans of the Snyderverse should not give up hope just yet. The upcoming trending event on February 14 provides a powerful platform for fans to make their voices heard, and to show Netflix just how much interest there is in the continuation of this beloved universe. Whether or not it will lead to anything remains to be seen, but fans should take heart in the fact that there is still a chance for the Snyderverse to live on.
While James Gunn’s tweet may have been a disappointment to some, it’s important to keep in mind that the fate of the Snyderverse is ultimately in the hands of Netflix and Zack Snyder. With the right conditions, there is still a chance for this beloved universe to continue, and fans should never give up hope. The trending event on February 14 provides a powerful opportunity for fans to make their voices heard, and to show just how much they care about the Snyderverse.
