A recent comment made by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has thrown a cloud of uncertainty over the presence of the DC Universe (DCU) at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in 2023. With Marvel Studios reportedly opting out of hosting a Hall H presentation at this year’s convention, many had hoped that DC and Gunn would seize the opportunity to make a significant impact.

The revelation came when a fan took to Instagram to ask James Gunn if he would be attending Comic-Con this year. Disappointingly for many, the director responded, “I won’t be there this year but probably next.” This response all but confirmed that DC Studios, along with Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, have decided to pass on the chance to showcase their projects at SDCC, even in the absence of Marvel Studios.

One Instagram user expressed their disappointment, specifically mentioning their desire to see Gunn, David Corenswet, and Rachel Brosnahan take the stage to discuss “Superman: Legacy.” They also expressed confidence in Gunn’s ability to find an alternative way to introduce the actors and provide updates on other projects.

The news quickly spread across Twitter, with numerous fans expressing their sadness upon hearing about the absence of DC at SDCC. One user lamented that Hall H, the venue for major announcements by studios like Marvel and DC, would be devoid of excitement this year, stating, “So what you’re saying is, Hall H is gonna be dead on Saturday this year…”
its gonna b dead the whole weekend now lol the exhibit floor is gonna b crowded like never before

While some fans understood the reasons behind DC’s decision, citing the ongoing strike and a lack of material to showcase, they still found it very disappointing. One fan acknowledged the circumstances but expressed hope for the release of the first teaser trailer for “Aquaman 2” during the month.
Another fan, however, took a more pessimistic view, questioning the purpose of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con altogether. They wondered, “Bruh, what even is the point of Comic-Con this year?”
Bon ça va être bien décevant cette année le SDCC. Cela dit on peu comprendre y a peu de chose à montrer + la grève. Mais J’espère qu’on aura quand même le 1er teaser-trailer pour Aquaman 2 ce mois ci
