DC Studios co-head James Gunn recently took to Twitter to dispel rumors that former Superman actor Henry Cavill will be voicing Frankenstein in the upcoming animated series Creature Commandos. The series is part of the “Gods and Monsters” chapter of the DC Universe, which follows a team of supernatural soldiers on dangerous missions to save the world from evil forces.

Gunn, who co-wrote the upcoming DC animated series clarified that Cavill’s involvement in the project was merely speculation, and that the role of Frankenstein had already been cast with their preferred choice. Although the official announcement of the casting is yet to come, it is certain that Cavill will not be part of the project.
“Completely false. We have our Frankenstein – our first choice – & it’s not Henry. Was never discussed with him. #CreatureCommandos” Gunn responded to one tweet.
“It’s on various news sites & I was asked about it. You might consider that this bile you think comes off in my post has more to do with your framing than what I’m actually saying. I’ve said in the past we’ve discussed other roles with Henry – just Frankenstein is not one of them.” Gunn responded to another tweet.

Creature Commandos were created by J. M. DeMatteis and Pat Broderic, making their first appearance in the pages of Weird War Tales #93 in 1980. Their leader, General Matthew Shrieve, appeared in the third season of The CW’s Arrow, portrayed by Marc Singer.
Gunn and Safran have big plans for the DC Universe and their vision includes bringing back elements from previous DC regimes, which means their 10 year plan is not a full reboot.
Fans of the DC Universe can rest assured that Henry Cavill will not be voicing Frankenstein in the upcoming Creature Commandos animated series. As the DC Universe continues to expand, with new movies and television shows in the works, it will be exciting to see what else Gunn and Safran have in store for fans.
