Insights into Superman and Future DCU Storylines

Speaking on the I Think You’re Overthinking It podcast, Gunn hinted that the next project is likely the Superman sequel, though he hopes to produce The Batman Part II beforehand. He also teased a super-secret TV series, stating that the plot, title, and characters remain under wraps.

Regarding his long-term vision, Gunn further revealed,

“I am thinking, ‘What is the long-term story I’m telling here? What is the story that I’m going to tell about Superman over four movies?’”

This, in turn, indicates a multi-film arc designed to explore Superman in greater depth, while also linking directly to upcoming DCU projects.

Release Updates for Key DCU Projects

Additionally, fans can now enjoy updated release information for several of these projects:

  • Superman will arrive on digital HD platforms (Amazon Prime, iTunes, Vudu, Google Play) on August 26, 2025, and on DVD, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray on September 23, 2025.
  • Peacemaker Season 2 premiered on HBO Max starting August 21, 2025, with the first episode now streaming.
  • Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock, wrapped filming and is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.
  • Lanterns is set to premiere on HBO in early 2026, and Clayface is expected to premiere on September 11, 2026.

Furthermore, Gunn explained the reasoning behind the early home release of Superman:

“At the end of the day, I wanted everyone who wanted to see Superman to be able to, even those who couldn’t get to a theater before Peacemaker.”

As a result, this move allows fans to fully enjoy the interconnected stories across DCU films and series.
