HBO Max Responds After Fans Call Out ‘Missing Green’ in Lanterns Trailer!

The Lanterns trailer recently sparked a wave of online reactions after fans pointed out what appeared to be a surprising detail — the lack of the iconic green color associated with the Green Lantern heroes. Viewers quickly took to social media to discuss the trailer and question why the famous color seemed missing from the promotional footage.

The discussion started when a fan posted on X questioning the visuals in the trailer. The user wrote,

“Oh my god bruh where is the GREEN he’s a GREEN LANTERN,”

highlighting the absence of the color that defines the legendary superhero corps.

Soon after, however, HBO Max stepped into the conversation with a humorous reply. As a result, the response quickly gained attention across social media.

HBO Max’s Playful Response Goes Viral

Responding directly to the fan’s comment, HBO Max joked,

“What do you mean there’s no green?”

The streaming platform included a photo of a green plastic basket placed on a table, playfully referencing the color tied to the Green Lantern characters.

The response quickly went viral online. Within a short time, the post gained more than 761,000 views along with hundreds of replies from fans who joined the conversation. Some viewers appreciated the joke, while others continued to debate whether the trailer truly captured the visual identity of the Green Lantern universe.

As a result, the viral exchange brought even more attention to the Lanterns trailer. It also increased anticipation for the upcoming series.

The Story Behind Lanterns

The new series Lanterns is based on characters from DC Comics. It focuses on two members of the Green Lantern Corps: Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

In fact, the show was created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King.

The story follows Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a mysterious murder in Nebraska. At first, the case appears simple. However, the investigation soon reveals a much larger mystery. The events eventually connect to a wider story within the DC universe.

Cast of the Lanterns Series

The upcoming show features a strong ensemble cast.

Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, a veteran Lantern nearing retirement. Aaron Pierre stars as John Stewart, a new recruit in the Green Lantern Corps. He begins learning the responsibilities of the role under Jordan’s mentorship.

Other cast members include:

  • Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry
  • Nathan Fillion returning as Guy Gardner

Recurring cast members include Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen.

Production and Release

Production for Lanterns took place in Los Angeles from February 2025 to July 2025. In total, the first season will consist of eight episodes.

The series is scheduled to premiere in August 2026 on HBO Max. It will be part of DC Universe Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, the first chapter of the newly rebooted DC Universe.
