MARVEL WON OVER DC AT THE SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON!

Author: S.C / JULY 26, 2022

The DCEU panel at 2022’s San Diego Comic-Con focused on the two upcoming films Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Many DC fans were hoping that Warner Bros will announce sequel for beloved Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel. However, the panel discussion ended up taking place with trailer of Shazam! Fury of Gods and sneak peek of Black Adam which left fans disappointed.

The fans have been waiting for Man Of Steel sequel led by Henry Cavill for years now. Henry Cavill was first introduced as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel, before appearing as the character again in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Joss Whedon-Massacre Justice League. Superman later appeared in both Shazam! and Peacemaker but Henry Cavill’s face was not shown in either instance. In Justice League, Cavill’s Superman appeared with CGI lips and weird dialogues which literally turned the character into a joke. The release of the Snyder Cut revived Cavill’s character  and brought back a massive anticipation in seeing Henry as Superman once again. It was expected that Warner Bros will take the chance at San Diego Comic-Con  to bring back Henry Cavill Superman and restore the DECU to its former glory. But things didn’t end up as expected.

DCEU has two upcoming movies at hold!  The Aquaman sequel and the Flash solo movie didn’t have a panel at the Comic-Con. Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom and The Flash are shifted to new release dates (2023). Both projects had their stars stuck in several controversies. The fans want  Amber Heard removed from the movie due to her loss in defamation case with ex-husband Johnny Depp. The case of The Flash star Ezra Miller is different. Two arrests, one restraining order and accusation of grooming a minor – in a span of six months resulted in the studio pulling movie from it’s release slot.

Meanwhile, Marvel announced over 10 projects at the San Diego Comic-Con. The announcement included the title reveal of two Avengers films. They also presented trailer and logo clips for the future Phase 5 and Phase 6 films like Black Panther 2, Secret Invasion, Ant-Man sequel and many more. The San Diego Comic-Con was a clear victory for Marvel over DC.

However, some insiders have reported that DC is saving their big guns for DC Fandom event which is expected to return by the end of the year.
