Reflecting on the process, Alcock shared:

I was kind of in disbelief, At first, I thought, ‘What have I done?’ After that moment sank in, I invited all my friends over to the house, and we drank champagne.”

But before celebrating, Alcock faced one of the most high-pressure moments in her career—competing directly with another actress for the role of Supergirl.

During a screen test, you’re in a room with all the other women [vying for the same part], and you’re all dressed as the character.[The studio] will get you lined up in the makeup truck and put the same makeup on you all, and then test you on a stage.

For Supergirl, it was myself and another girl. It was really scary; I thought I was going to vomit! But it’s just fear! That’s what happens! This job has been a journey of overcoming my own fear.”

Her remarks give fans a deeper appreciation for the effort and emotion behind the role.

What to Expect in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow hits theaters on June 26, 2026, bringing Tom King’s acclaimed comic series to the big screen. In contrast to previous versions, this adaptation offers a darker, more nuanced take on Kara Zor-El. The film follows her life on a shattered fragment of Krypton, where she faces deep trauma and isolation. As a result, viewers will witness a more emotionally complex Supergirl—one defined by resilience and strength. Ultimately, this story marks the beginning of a more mature era for the DC Universe.

Leading the cast is Milly Alcock as Supergirl, joined by Eve Ridley as Ruthye and Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem. Jason Momoa takes on the role of Lobo, while David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham portray Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, respectively.
