New Superman Strikes an Emotional Chord with Former Star

In a recent interview with Variety, Routh shared how deeply the New Superman film impacted him emotionally:
“It was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed it. David is fantastic. Honestly, I cried no less than three times.”
He continued, praising Corenswet’s portrayal in key scenes, especially:
“Those tricky Superman moments in the first conversation with Lois and Clark in the apartment… all of the family stuff for me really hit. It’s a big movie… I have to go see it again.”
Overall, Routh’s heartfelt words clearly reflect the emotional depth and fresh storytelling that define the rebooted film.
Routh Supports the Future of the New DCU
Beyond just the movie itself, Routh is also optimistic about what the New Superman represents for the larger DC Universe. In fact, he went on to state:
“A successful launch with this is just good for everybody who wants more of what DC has to offer. There are a lot of great properties that can be explored.”
Indeed, the film has been both a critical and commercial success, already crossing $400 million globally since its release on July 11. As a result, fans and critics alike are hailing it as a promising step forward for the DCU. Thanks to its strong storytelling, compelling characters, and modern emotional beats, the movie is not only earning praise but also deeply resonating with audiences worldwide.
