Fans of Robert Pattinson’s brooding and intense portrayal of the Dark Knight in The Batman have something new to be excited about. According to a recent rumor, Pattinson is set to return to the DC universe before the release of The Batman 2, and it will be in a surprising role – that of The Penguin.

According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, there are rumors circulating that Pattinson may appear in The Penguin series, an upcoming spin-off that will focus on Colin Farrell’s unrecognizable portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot, tracking the villain’s rise to becoming an infamous crime boss.
While it’s unclear whether Pattinson will appear in the series as Batman, Bruce Wayne, or both, the news that he may reprise his DC role even sooner than 2025 is an exciting prospect for fans of the franchise.
The Penguin is intended to sit outside of the DCU narrative that James Gunn and Peter Safran are building, but it will directly connect to Matt Reeves’ Batman universe and may even lead into the upcoming sequel, The Batman – Part 2.
Given that The Penguin is already filming, it seems likely that the series will be released prior to The Batman 2, which would make this Pattinson’s next appearance in the DC universe. The Penguin will reportedly take place only a week after the events of The Batman, which saw Gotham City flooded and a power vacuum open after the death of Carmine Falcone.
If The Penguin plans to set up The Batman – Part 2 in some way, it makes sense that Bruce Wayne and/or Batman would have a part to play in the story of the TV series as well. In a recent interview, Matt Reeves commented that he intends for Pattinson’s Batman to “be the emotional center of the story” in the upcoming sequel, which further supports the idea that Pattinson’s character could appear in The Penguin.
It’s worth noting that this is just a rumor at this point, and nothing has been confirmed. However, the idea of Robert Pattinson returning to the DC universe in The Penguin is an exciting one for fans, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Regardless of whether or not Pattinson appears in The Penguin, his portrayal of Batman in The Batman is highly anticipated, and the film is shaping up to be a dark and gritty take on the character that will appeal to both casual moviegoers and die-hard comic book fans.

As for The Penguin, Colin Farrell’s portrayal of the iconic villain is sure to be a highlight of the series, and it will be fascinating to see how the show explores his backstory and his rise to power in Gotham City. If Robert Pattinson does end up appearing in the series, it will only add to the excitement surrounding this highly anticipated spin-off.
