The Batman star Robert Pattinson reveals he wore Val Kilmer’s Batsuit during costume tests for the upcoming DC movie.
During ‘The Batman’ panel at DC Fandome, Matt Reeves revealed that during the initial Screen tests for the film Pattinson wore the Batsuit that Val Kilmer wore in Batman Forever. Pattinson then remembered the day he wore the suit, talking about how nervous he was and how tough it was to move in Kilmer’s rubber/latex suit. Pattinson said that after two takes, Reeves asked if there was anything we could do about Pattinson’s sweating, and the actor responded, nothing could be done.
Check out Pattinson’s full recollection below:
“It was crazy, but I remember putting it on and thinking ‘this is impossible, this is gonna be absolutely impossible.’. I remember you (Reeves) saying like, because I guess just trying to move, I mean wearing a kind of 2-inch thick rubber suit, a latex suit and being incredibly nervous and full of adrenaline the whole time. I remember we did like 2 takes and you were just saying ‘What can we do about the sweat?’, and I was like ‘Nothing! There’s nothing that could be done!’. I had to like be drained of liquid!”
Val Kilmer played in the Joel Schumacher directed ‘Batman Forever’ in 1995 and complained about Batsuit for restricting his movements.
With ‘The Batman’ directed towards more grounded, realistic approach, It might surprise long-time fans to learn that Pattinson experimented with Kilmer’s Batsuit. Pattinson and Reeves’s Batman is shaping up to be gritty and brutal which is totally the opposite of Schumacher’s Batman. Despite that, fans can now wonder how the Pattinson looked in the Kilmer’s Batsuit.
