The world of superhero movies is no stranger to crossovers, but what about a real-world crossover between two of the biggest names in the genre? That’s exactly what happened recently when Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing duo behind the massive Marvel blockbusters Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, sat down with Zack Snyder, the filmmaker responsible for bringing DC Comics characters to life on the big screen, in the latest episode of Pizza Film School.
For those unfamiliar with Pizza Film School, it’s a series of interviews conducted by the Russos where they sit down with fellow filmmakers over pizza and discuss their creative processes. In this episode, Snyder joins them to talk about “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”, a four-hour epic that was released on HBO Max 3 years ago.

Over the course of the hour-long conversation, the trio dive deep into the making of the film, discussing everything from the scripting process to the use of digital photography and framing. It’s a fascinating look behind the scenes of one of the most ambitious superhero movies ever made, and a rare opportunity to hear from three filmmakers who have each left an indelible mark on the genre.

What’s especially interesting about this conversation is that both the Russos and Snyder have moved away from superhero fare in recent years. While they may be best known for their work in the genre, the Russos are currently working on a variety of projects outside of Marvel, including the upcoming sci-fi film The Electric State. Similarly, Snyder has been branching out into new territory with projects like his recent zombie-action film Army Of The Dead and his upcoming sci-fi film Rebel Moon.

Despite their divergent paths, however, the conversation between the three filmmakers is a reminder of just how much they have in common when it comes to their approach to filmmaking. They all share a passion for storytelling, a dedication to crafting compelling characters, and a willingness to push the boundaries of what’s possible on screen.
Of course, the real star of the show here is the pizza. As the trio chow down on slices of what looks like some seriously delicious pie, they offer up some choice tidbits about their filmmaking process. It’s a fun, laid-back conversation that feels like you’re hanging out with a group of friends, talking about your favorite movies.
At the end of the day, Pizza Film School is a great reminder of the power of cinema to bring people together. Whether you’re a die-hard superhero fan or just someone who loves a good slice of pizza, this episode is sure to entertain and enlighten. Who knows, maybe it’ll even inspire some future collaborations between these three talented filmmakers.
