“If Joker begins with Mark Hamill and Jack Nicholson, this take on the Joker will be very different for them. But for people who’ve read comics for a long, long, long, long time, it won’t be.”

Creative Independence and a Unique Joker Approach
The first season finale teased this mysterious Joker, depicting an unseen character killing victims with laughter and declaring, “Perfect.” Tucker emphasized the creative independence of the series, noting:
“Some people will recognize it and go, ‘Oh, I see what they’re doing,’ and other people will go, ‘Wow, this is different.’ But, I think it’s all Joker.”
Additionally, the series is separate from Matt Reeves’ live-action Batman universe:
“We weren’t given a mandate to match what he was doing,” Tucker revealed, adding that Reeves understands “our show is separate from what he’s doing in the movies.”
This freedom allows the writers and animators to take creative risks while keeping the essence of Batman intact.

After being canceled by HBO Max, the series found a new home on Amazon Prime Video. The production team is currently adding the “final touches” to Season 2, with a planned release in 2026.
