Since its release, The Flash has sparked widespread discussions among fans and critics alike. Andy Muschietti Stands by The Flash Amid Backlash

In an interview with The Playlist, Muschietti openly addressed the criticisms and, moreover, discussed the challenges of promoting the movie.

“No, we just moved on and understood that sometimes there’s a headwind and a project that you dedicated a lot of work to. And we’re very proud of it. I think it’s a good movie. A lot of people did not see it. But you know how things are these days, like people don’t see things, but they like to talk s*** about it, and they like to jump on bandwagons. They don’t really know.”

Even with the controversy surrounding Ezra Miller, Muschietti emphasized his commitment to the film:

“People are angry for reasons that are unrelated to these things. Of course, we had a publicity crisis with Ezra that is undeniable. And I’m not questioning that. But yeah, we love the movie. And actually, we really recommend it.”

Furthermore, he added that while social media often amplifies negativity, he believes that many viewers who criticize the film haven’t actually seen it. Consequently, this perspective reflects a larger trend in Hollywood, where perception frequently overshadows the actual content.

Support from DC Universe and Lessons Learned

Muschietti highlighted the support he received from DC Universe leadership and the studio:

“This may seem immaterial now, but we also had so much support from the studio, really, at a point where they could have been like, you know, backing out because of all the issues we were having with publicity. And they went all in, and we all went all in.”

Reflecting on the experience, the director noted:

“Sometimes the most flashy things that sound the best to fans on paper aren’t guaranteed to come out good.”

Moreover, he further explained that this experience taught him the importance of carefully balancing fan expectations with creative vision. Despite the controversies, Muschietti remains confident that The Flash will ultimately find its audience and leave a lasting impression within the DC Universe.

Ultimately, The Flash remains a project that Muschietti proudly stands behind. Furthermore, he hopes that audiences will watch the movie with an open mind and fully appreciate the storytelling, performances, and ambitious visual effects, despite any external controversies.
