Story Synopsis

So how was it? Did the movie stand up to its hype? Here’s our short review on The Suicide Squad.

The Suicide Squad was totally a different take from DCEU what they used to be. This movie is bright in tone and less dramatic. It had all the James Gunn flavours all over it – Comedy, Action & Entertainment. Is this a perfect Superhero film? We don’t think so. The opening 10 minutes successfully established the mood of the film and the unpredictable nature of the storyline, but soon there was some dragging portions which made the movie look a bit dull. Some of the comedy scenes did not work and some felt like forced.

The Second Half totally saved the movies which had a lot of unpredictable plot twists and turns. The Suicide Squad had a lot of cool brutal action scenes which was extremally enjoyable.

Coming to the characters, all the actors showed justice to their respective roles. James Gunn wrote the characters and their backstory really well. This movie had the best Harley Quinn moments in the entire DCEU. Margot Robbie was phenomenal as Harley Quinn and Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher2 was another standout. Joel Kinnaman had better character moments in this movie than the original Suicide Squad. David Dastmalchian’s Polka Dot Man portrayal was really great and King Shark/Nanaue was cute and violent. Sylvester Stallone is undoubtedly the best choice to voice King Shark. John Cena’s Peacemaker and Idris Elba’s Bloodsport had cool action scenes and great moments.
Apart from these, the editing works of Fred Raski and Christian Wagner marked to its excellence. Henry Braham’s Cinematography makes the movie visually stunning. Music by John Murphy was mediocre and could have been better.

In General, The movie was really great in terms of action, characters and making but the story was little weak compared to other aspects of the movie. This movie is good but not great. We would give The Suicide Squad 3.25 stars out of 5.
