Canadian actress Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova gained fame for her role as Svetlana in the popular Heated Rivalry series. She has now revealed her interest in joining the DC Universe as the live-action version of Starfire. Anna Diop previously portrayed this fan-favorite Teen Titans character. She played the role in the HBO Max show Titans, which ran from 2018 to 2023.
For years, fans have speculated about who could take on the fiery role in the DCU. Now, Kharlamova’s enthusiasm has sparked excitement online. Furthermore, many consider her a strong candidate due to her acting range and experience in action-oriented roles.
Why Kharlamova Wants to Play Starfire
Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, star of Heated Rivalry, says she wants to play Starfire in the DCU. Earlier this year, she spoke with EnVi about her passion for superhero stories and the emotional impact they can have on audiences. In her words, superhero films make people feel “less alone” and also inspire them to embrace courage and hope.
“I think it’s just such a fun genre. (There’s) a certain sense of wonder. It’s just so beautiful, and I would love to be in a movie that evokes that feeling from people,” she said.
Kharlamova also revealed that she’s a fan of multiple comic book universes, mentioning that she’s been reading X-Men comics and dreams of playing other iconic characters. This crossover interest shows her versatility and appeal to both DC and Marvel fans.
Teen Titans Live-Action Movie Update
Back in 2024, DC Studios announced that it had begun development on a live-action Teen Titans movie, with Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira attached to pen the screenplay. James Gunn clarified that no script draft had been finalized, despite ongoing rumors.
“Anything you’ve heard about that movie is made up or a guess. No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people,” Gunn stated.
Although details remain scarce, fans remain hopeful that the DCU will honor the Teen Titans’ legacy and introduce a fresh take on Starfire for both longtime viewers and new audiences.
Starfire’s DCU Future
Recently, Starfire made a brief non-speaking cameo in the Creature Commandos series, hinting at her future role within the DCU. Additionally, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation confirmed plans for her own animated series, executive-produced by Josie Campbell. Moreover, Gunn has affirmed that this show will be part of the DCU’s Elseworlds, giving fans an exciting glimpse of what’s to come.
Overall, the DCU is gradually building a more interconnected universe where fan-favorite heroes like Starfire can shine. As a result, this strategic approach ensures that each character receives the attention they deserve while maintaining continuity within the larger DC Universe.
With Kharlamova’s interest, Gunn’s ongoing development of DCU projects, and upcoming animated series, Starfire’s future in the DCU is looking brighter than ever. Fans can expect more news as casting decisions and production details emerge, signaling a promising era for Teen Titans stories on screen.
