Man of Tomorrow Cast Adds Green Lantern John Stewart

A new report has confirmed that Aaron Pierre has joined the cast of Man of Tomorrow as Green Lantern John Stewart.

According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider newsletter and The Hollywood Reporter, Pierre will appear in the upcoming DCU film alongside the returning Superman cast. However, officials have not yet confirmed the exact size of his role.

Still, early information suggests the appearance will be more significant than many fans expected. Sneider specifically noted that Pierre’s role,

“Won’t be a quick cameo, as Gunn’s sequel has forced him to turn down other projects in recent weeks.”

Aaron Pierre Will First Appear in the Lanterns Series

Although Pierre will appear in Man of Tomorrow, the film will not actually mark his first appearance as John Stewart in the DCU.

Instead, the upcoming HBO Max series Lanterns will introduce him, with its premiere scheduled for this August.

Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King created the series. In addition, the show will feature several major Green Lantern characters, including:

  • Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan
  • Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner
  • Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro

This setup allows Lanterns to establish the Green Lantern mythology before John Stewart appears in Man of Tomorrow.

Man of Tomorrow Features a Large DCU Cast

Along with Aaron Pierre joining the film, Man of Tomorrow already includes an extensive lineup of DC characters.

David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will return as Superman/Clark Kent and Lex Luthor from Superman, while several other DC Universe characters are set to appear in the film.

The Man of Tomorrow cast already features a wide range of important DC characters. David Corenswet returns as Superman/Clark Kent, while Nicholas Hoult reprises his role as Lex Luthor. The film will also include Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. In addition, Sara Sampaio will appear as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced will portray Hawkgirl, and Maria Gabriela de Faria has been cast as The Engineer. Meanwhile, Lars Eidinger is set to play the iconic villain Brainiac. Because of this wide range of characters, the movie appears to be expanding the scale of the DCU significantly.

Although officials are keeping most plot details for Man of Tomorrow secret, they have revealed a few story elements. The film will focus on an unexpected alliance between Superman and Lex Luthor, with the two rivals forced to join forces to confront a much greater threat. Fans widely believe that threat will be Brainiac, one of Superman’s most dangerous enemies.

Filming for the movie is set to begin in April in Atlanta, Georgia, indicating that production preparations are already underway. DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures have scheduled Man of Tomorrow to arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027. For now, fans can revisit the start of the new DCU era, as Superman is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
