A major casting update has brought Auliʻi Cravalho into the DC Comics animated universe.
The Moana star, widely recognized for voicing Disney’s iconic heroine in Moana (2016 film), is now stepping into the superhero genre with a major recurring role.
Moreover, she will voice Jessica Cruz, one of the most important Earth-born members of the Green Lantern legacy. In addition, her casting also signals DC’s continued focus on expanding younger, emotionally grounded heroes within its animated storytelling universe.
Moana Star Debuts in My Adventures with Superman Season 3
Cravalho will make her DC debut in Season 3 of My Adventures with Superman. Moreover, the series continues its modern, character-driven take on DC heroes.

Her character appears in the episode titled “Mobile Suit Toyman”, set to premiere on June 20, 2026, on Adult Swim.
In this version, Jessica Cruz is introduced as a high school teenager. As a result, the series explores her fears, curiosity, and early reactions to superheroes before she becomes a Lantern. In turn, this approach adds emotional depth and makes her transformation into Green Lantern more impactful over time.
Showrunner Explains Jessica Cruz’s Role
Showrunner Jake Wyatt explained the creative reason for introducing the character, saying:
“We’d already planned for the second episode to showcase how Supergirl, in particular, was changing their world. We wanted to look at how different people had very different reactions to the same Kryptonian.”
He further added:
“So when word came down from the brass that Green Lantern was greenlit, we wanted our pre-Lantern Jessica Cruz to give us the girl-on-the-street view of Supergirl.”
These comments highlight Jessica Cruz as a grounded perspective in a world increasingly shaped by Kryptonian and metahuman activity. Moreover, they show how ordinary people adjust to extraordinary events.
Moana Star’s Future as Green Lantern
Following her debut, Cravalho will reprise her role in the upcoming spin-off series My Adventures with Green Lantern.
This confirms that Jessica Cruz is not just a supporting addition but a long-term character arc within DC’s animated universe. As a result, her journey is expected to shift from an everyday student perspective into a fully realized Green Lantern. In doing so, it may explore themes of fear, courage, and emotional resilience—core traits associated with the character in DC Comics lore.

The spin-off also suggests DC is building a more interconnected animated universe. Side characters introduced in one series can evolve into leads in their own stories.
Cast of My Adventures with Superman
The series continues to feature a strong ensemble cast, including:
- Superman – voiced by Jack Quaid
- Lois Lane – voiced by Alice Lee
- Jimmy Olsen – voiced by Ishmel Sahid
- Supergirl – voiced by Kiana Madeira
The introduction of Jessica Cruz further expands the show’s emotional and narrative scope, especially as the series balances superhero action with grounded character-driven storytelling. Her presence is expected to add a fresh civilian perspective amid escalating metahuman events.
Moana Star’s Career Beyond DC
Outside DC, Auliʻi Cravalho continues to build a diverse acting portfolio. She starred as Janis ‘Imi’ike in the 2024 Mean Girls musical adaptation and has also contributed voice performances across multiple animated projects.
Her credits include roles in The Mighty Nein, Zootopia 2, and Krapopolis, showcasing her growing presence in animation and voice acting.
In addition, she is serving as an executive producer on Disney’s upcoming live-action Moana remake, further strengthening her connection to the role that originally launched her into global recognition.
The casting of Auliʻi Cravalho as Jessica Cruz marks a significant expansion for DC’s animated universe. With her debut in My Adventures with Superman Season 3 and a confirmed spin-off in development, Jessica Cruz is positioned to become a major Green Lantern figure in future storytelling. Her journey from an ordinary teenager to a superhero promises a layered, character-driven evolution within DC’s growing animated slate.
