DC Studios’ upcoming DCU Batman movie remains one of the most anticipated projects in the new DC Universe. Since the studio announced plans for a new version of the iconic hero, fans have continued to speculate about the actor who could eventually take on the role of Bruce Wayne.
However, DC Studios has yet to officially reveal its new Batman. As the studio continues developing the project, fresh speculation surrounding the highly anticipated casting has now sparked another round of discussion among DC fans.
The Brave and the Bold Arrived in DC Studios’ 2023 Slate
DC Studios announced The Brave and the Bold in 2023. DC Studios plans to introduce its version of Batman in the project.
However, the movie remains in development. With The Batman: Part II delayed to 2028, the DCU’s Batman has yet to make his on-screen debut.
The project will feature Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne. However, the story continues to evolve, and several details remain in flux.
James Gunn has also previously defended Christina Hodson’s work on the movie.
“I will only say anyone maligning Christina Hodson’s screenwriting skills has almost certainly never read an actual screenplay by Christina Hodson – she’s one of the writers who was with us early in the DCU planning stages,”
Gunn also added:
“I don’t think you can judge my writing based on films others directed, as massive liberties are sometimes taken.”
Mitchell Slaggert Reportedly Eyed for the DCU Batman Role
According to John Campea, Mitchell Slaggert is among the actors being eyed to play the DCU’s Batman.
Mitchell Slaggert’s Acting Credits Include Landman
Mitchell Slaggert has appeared in several film and television projects.
His film credits include Wish Upon from 2017 and Write When You Get Work from 2018. He has also appeared in television shows such as Gossip Girl and The Sex Lives of College Girls.
More recently, Slaggert appeared in Landman.
John Campea’s previous claim connected the actor to the DCU’s Batman role. However, Jeff Sneider’s latest comments dispute the idea that Slaggert is currently in the running.
James Gunn Says DC Studios’ Brave and the Bold Story Details Have Changed
Last year, James Gunn said that he was happy with The Brave and the Bold‘s script. However, he also noted that some story elements were still evolving.
Gunn said:
“some things have changed”
He also explained:
“Plenty of things are in flux on what his situation is with his parentage and all that stuff.”
These comments suggest that the movie’s story continues to develop.
Is Damian Wayne Still Part of The Brave and the Bold?
Damian Wayne has long been connected to The Brave and the Bold. However, Gunn has remained careful when discussing the character’s status in the project.
When asked whether Damian Wayne is still part of the movie, Gunn responded:
“I think you have to wait to see exactly what’s happening.”
As a result, fans will have to wait for further details about the movie’s story and characters.
DC Studios Has Not Confirmed the DCU’s Batman Casting
For now, the Mitchell Slaggert casting report remains unconfirmed.
John Campea previously claimed that Slaggert was being eyed for the role. However, Jeff Sneider has said there is no truth to claims that either Mitchell Slaggert or Tom Brittney are in the running to play the DCU’s Batman.
Consequently, fans should treat the casting claims as rumors until DC Studios makes an official announcement.
With The Brave and the Bold still in development, the DCU’s Batman has yet to make his on-screen debut. Until DC Studios officially confirms its choice, the identity of the new Bruce Wayne remains unknown.
