DC and Warner Bros. have officially announced the release date for Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall. The upcoming movie will serve as the first installment in a three-part animated adaptation of DC’s iconic Knightfall storyline.
The R-rated film will bring Batman into conflict with one of his most dangerous enemies while also featuring several important characters from the Dark Knight’s mythology. Moreover, the story will continue across two additional installments.
Along with announcing the first movie’s release plans, DC and Warner Bros. have also revealed details about the sequel schedule, physical editions, special features, official synopsis, creative team, and voice cast.
DC Confirms Plans for Two Batman: Knightfall Sequels
Additionally, DC and Warner Bros. are adapting the iconic Knightfall storyline as a three-part animated trilogy, with Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall serving as the opening chapter.
DC and Warner Bros. will continue the story with Knightfall Part 2 later in 2026. Meanwhile, Knightfall Part 3 will arrive in early 2027.
Therefore, fans can look forward to two additional chapters after the first movie arrives.
Batman: Knightfall Physical Release Includes Two Special Features
The 4K UHD and Blu-ray editions of the upcoming movie will include two special features.
Breaking the Bat: Adapting the Knightfall
The first special feature, titled “Breaking the Bat: Adapting the Knightfall,” will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the process of adapting the iconic comic book storyline.
Batman Needs a Robin
The second feature, titled “Batman Needs a Robin,” will explore Robin’s important role in Batman mythology.
In particular, the feature will focus on Tim Drake and his connection to the Dark Knight.
As a result, the physical editions will provide fans with additional material exploring the movie’s story and its connection to Batman’s larger mythology.
DC Reveals Batman: Knightfall Story Details
Moreover, the upcoming R-rated animated movie will place Batman in one of the most dangerous situations of his career.
The film’s official synopsis reads:
“When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.”
As the synopsis reveals, Bane will unleash Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum. Consequently, the Caped Crusader must face multiple enemies while also dealing with the mysterious behemoth.
As a result, the dangerous situation will push Batman to his mental and physical limits.

Batman: Knightfall Voice Cast and Creative Team Revealed
Additionally, Jeff Wamester is directing Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, while Jeremy Adams serves as the film’s writer.
The voice cast includes:
- Anson Mount as Bruce Wayne/Batman
- Michael Mando as Bane
- Pablo Schreiber as Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael
Additionally, the inclusion of Jean-Paul Valley, also known as Azrael, is particularly notable because of the character’s connection to the Knightfall storyline.
DC Reveals Batman: Knightfall Release Dates
After announcing the movie’s release plans, DC and Warner Bros. have now confirmed the specific dates for the first installment.
Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall will be released digitally on August 25, 2026.
Fans will be able to purchase the movie through platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango, and other digital retailers.
The physical release will follow on September 8, 2026. On that date, the movie will become available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
Meanwhile, Knightfall Part 2 is scheduled for later in 2026, while Knightfall Part 3 will arrive in early 2027.
With Bane freeing Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall will push the Caped Crusader to his mental and physical breaking point.
