Fans can now return to Gotham City before Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 officially arrives. Prime Video has released the first two episodes of the acclaimed animated series for free on YouTube.
The move gives viewers a chance to experience the noir-inspired Batman series without a Prime Video subscription. In addition, Prime Video plans to release three more episodes through daily drops on its official YouTube channel.
Batman: Caped Crusader Episodes Are Free to Watch
Prime Video has made the first two episodes of Batman: Caped Crusader available to watch for free on YouTube. Therefore, fans can revisit the series before the highly anticipated second season premieres.
Moreover, viewers do not need an active Prime Video subscription to watch the episodes. The free release also gives new audiences an easy way to discover the animated series.
Prime Video will also release three additional episodes as daily drops on its official YouTube channel. As a result, fans will have more chances to catch up with the series before Season 2 arrives.
What Is Batman: Caped Crusader About?
Batman: Caped Crusader offers a film noir-inspired take on the Dark Knight’s early years. Instead of focusing only on large-scale superhero action, the series puts Batman’s detective skills at the center of its stories.
The animated series explores Gotham City’s criminal underworld through darker and more grounded cases. As Batman investigates each mystery, he faces dangerous criminals and a city filled with corruption.
This approach gives Batman: Caped Crusader a distinct identity within the world of DC animation. The series also draws inspiration from classic noir storytelling and Batman’s long history as the World’s Greatest Detective.
Who Voices Batman: Caped Crusader?
Hamish Linklater leads the voice cast as Bruce Wayne and Batman. The series also features Jason Watkins, Eric Morgan Stuart, Krystal Joy Brown, and John DiMaggio in key roles.
Meanwhile, Season 2 will introduce a major new voice to the series. Matthew Needham is set to voice The Joker in the upcoming season.
His arrival adds even more anticipation to the next chapter of the animated series. The Joker remains one of Batman’s most iconic enemies, so his appearance could create a major challenge for Gotham’s newest Dark Knight.
Bruce Timm Leads the Animated Series
Batman: Caped Crusader comes from acclaimed Batman animation creator Bruce Timm. He serves as showrunner alongside James Tucker.
Together, the creative team has built a series that combines classic Batman storytelling with a darker film noir atmosphere. The result is a detective-focused animated show that explores Batman’s early days in Gotham.
Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 premieres on Prime Video on July 31, 2026.
Unlike the free YouTube episode rollout, the complete second season will be available on Prime Video at launch. All 10 episodes will arrive on the same day.
Therefore, fans can either catch up with the free episodes on YouTube or revisit Season 1 before watching the complete new season.
Season 1 Earned High Praise From Critics
The animated series has already earned a strong response from critics. Season 1 currently holds a 94% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.
That reception has helped build anticipation for Season 2. With The Joker joining the story and the series continuing its noir-inspired take on Batman, the upcoming episodes could expand the show’s version of Gotham even further.
