“I would totally do a cameo in that. I love it,” Reynolds said.

That history makes Reynolds’ latest comments even more interesting. He has repeatedly joked about Green Lantern, yet he also appears comfortable with the possibility of returning to the character in a very different capacity.

Reynolds played Hal Jordan in the 2011 Green Lantern movie, which Warner Bros. originally hoped would launch a larger DC franchise. However, the film’s poor reception and disappointing box office performance ended those plans.
Reynolds eventually embraced the movie’s reputation as a punchline. His willingness to joke about it became a major part of his public relationship with the character. Still, his latest comments show that he does not necessarily view the role with complete hostility. Instead, Reynolds seems open to a brief appearance if the opportunity feels right.

HBO’s Lanterns already has its new Hal Jordan. Kyle Chandler plays the veteran Green Lantern, while Aaron Pierre stars as John Stewart. The series follows the two heroes as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
That setup gives Lanterns a grounded mystery angle while introducing two important Green Lantern characters to the new DC Universe. Because Chandler now plays Hal Jordan in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, Reynolds’ potential appearance would create an obvious continuity question.
Could Ryan Reynolds Appear Outside the DCU?

After all, Chandler already holds that role within the new continuity. That approach would also fit the tone Reynolds has used when discussing Green Lantern over the years. At this point, however, there is no confirmation that HBO plans to bring Reynolds into Lanterns. His comments only show that he would be willing to participate.
