Absolute Justice will bring the Absolute Universe’s biggest superheroes together for the first time in a new DC Comics crossover event arriving in 2027.
Absolute Justice Brings DC’s Alternate-Universe Heroes Together
DC Comics officially announced the five-issue miniseries during its New York Comic Con 2026 panel. The event will expand the mythology of the publisher’s popular alternate universe, which has reimagined several iconic superheroes with darker origins and different challenges.
Celebrated DC writer Scott Snyder shared the announcement on X alongside teaser artwork, writing,
“This April, pick up Absolute Justice!”
The series will be written by Jason Aaron, with artwork by Juan Ferreyra. It marks a major milestone for DC’s Absolute line as its heroes prepare to unite against an undisclosed threat. The upcoming Absolute Justice miniseries will unite several major heroes from the Absolute Universe.
Promotional artwork unveiled at NYCC offers a first look at the superhero lineup, featuring:
- Absolute Superman
- Absolute Wonder Woman
- Absolute Batman
- Absolute Martian Manhunter
- Absolute Jo Mullein (Green Lantern)
- Absolute Flash
The crossover will explore the deeper mythology of the Absolute Universe, according to Snyder. The announcement also featured the line, “If everything is tipped against us, I guess we have to fight.” That statement hints at the challenges facing the heroes, although DC has yet to reveal the complete storyline or the threat that will force them to work together.
Martian Manhunter Will Form the Absolute Justice League
One of the biggest details revealed about Absolute Justice is Martian Manhunter’s role in bringing the heroes together. The character will serve as the driving force behind the team-up, assembling the alternate-universe heroes to form the Absolute Justice League.
This development could establish a new dynamic between characters whose lives and origins differ significantly from their main-universe counterparts. However, DC has not yet explained how Martian Manhunter will recruit the team or what circumstances will lead to their first major alliance. The five-issue event will provide an opportunity to explore how these versions of DC’s heroes work together while expanding the universe’s overarching mythology.
Will Absolute Justice Affect Other DC Comics?
Despite bringing several major characters together, Absolute Justice will not disrupt the ongoing Absolute Universe titles. DC has also confirmed that the crossover will not feature tie-in issues in other series.
This means readers can follow the five-issue event without needing to purchase additional issues of Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, Absolute Wonder Woman, or other ongoing titles to understand the main story. The approach should also allow the crossover to tell a focused story while leaving the individual series free to continue their existing narratives.
The Absolute Universe Continues to Grow
DC launched its Absolute line in 2024, offering readers alternate interpretations of its most recognizable superheroes. Titles such as Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman have helped establish the initiative as a major part of the publisher’s comic book lineup.
The line reportedly sold more than 8.2 million copies last year, while Absolute Batman alone has sold over 6 million copies so far. These figures reflect the strong commercial performance of the Absolute titles and their contribution to DC’s position in the comic book market. Now, Absolute Justice will expand the initiative beyond individual superhero stories by bringing several of its leading characters together in one event.
When Will Absolute Justice Be Released?
Absolute Justice is scheduled to launch in April 2027 as a five-issue miniseries. Jason Aaron will write the series, while Juan Ferreyra will provide the artwork. DC has not yet revealed the full plot or the villain who will unite the Absolute Universe’s heroes.
The crossover represents another major step for the publishing initiative, which continues to develop new versions of familiar DC characters.
