Jennifer Holland reprises her role as Emilia Harcourt in Peacemaker Season 2. Meanwhile, she opened up about her marriage to DC Studios co-head James Gunn. According to her, his dedication to the DC Universe leaves their relationship with “very little” work-life balance.
Jennifer Holland on Balancing Marriage and the DCU
In an interview with People, Jennifer Holland admitted that her marriage comes with unique challenges, especially considering Gunn’s demanding workload.
“I’ve not been, in any way, upset or judgmental with James,” Holland explained. “I understand that currently his number one focus in life has been taking on this opportunity that he has at DC with 100% full force. I think he’s doing that with just every ounce of his being, and he wants to make sure that it’s everything that the fans could hope for.”
She added that their marriage has “very little” work-life balance. However, she respects her husband’s passion and the responsibility he feels toward fans.
A Front-Row Seat to the DCU
According to Jennifer Holland, she has a unique perspective on Gunn’s tireless efforts both at home and on set:
“You are always going to disappoint some people, that’s just the way it is.”
She continued,
“[James] wants to do justice with the characters and give them what they deserve… for people who’ve lived with these characters in these comics that they’ve been reading and the characters that they created in their brains.”
Holland emphasized that Gunn remains “very committed” to delivering the best possible version of the DC Universe.
Their Relationship Journey
The couple’s love story began in July 2015 when they were introduced by actor Michael Rosenbaum. After several years together, they eventually tied the knot in October 2022. More recently, Gunn celebrated the 10th anniversary of their first date, calling Jennifer Holland “the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Beyond her personal life, Jennifer Holland also reflected on filming Peacemaker. In addition, she praised her co-stars, particularly John Cena.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better, more professional partner than John.”
