The report further claims that Lillard’s character has two children between the ages of 7 and 11. None of these details have been officially confirmed by DC Studios or Gunn. Still, they could provide an interesting clue about the character’s place in the story.
Could Lillard’s Character Work at The Daily Planet?
The reported connection to Jimmy Olsen, Cat Grant, and Perry White is particularly interesting. All three characters are closely connected to the Daily Planet in Superman mythology. Jimmy works alongside Clark Kent as a photographer. Perry White serves as the Daily Planet’s editor-in-chief, while Cat Grant is another prominent member of the newspaper’s staff in many versions of the mythology.
If the report is accurate, Lillard’s character could therefore have some connection to the Daily Planet. That remains speculation, though. The information does not identify the character or confirm that he works for the newspaper.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, the actor addressed the announcement that Daredevil: Born Again will conclude with Season 3. Lillard praised showrunner Dario Scardapane and teased an explosive upcoming season.
“I do think it’s in the hands of Dario [Scardapane], who is a great storyteller,” Lillard said. “I think that the show, this season, is going to be explosive, and is really going to rattle a lot of people’s expectations.”
However, Lillard also admitted that he was disappointed by the decision to end the series.
“I, too, am sad. It was a shocking move,” the Mr. Charles actor said. “I think that cast is incredible, and the storytelling is incredible, and I was disappointed, totally.”
His comments come as Lillard prepares for another major role in a superhero franchise.
What Is Man of Tomorrow About?
Man of Tomorrow will follow Superman as he faces a threat far larger than Metropolis. The movie will force Clark Kent to work alongside Lex Luthor as they confront Brainiac. Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac, who is expected to become one of Superman’s most dangerous DCU enemies.
David Corenswet will return as Clark Kent/Superman, while Nicholas Hoult will reprise his role as Lex Luthor. Rachel Brosnahan will also return as Lois Lane.
Man of Tomorrow Has a Growing DCU Cast
The Superman sequel features a large ensemble cast. Skyler Gisondo will return as Jimmy Olsen, while Sara Sampaio will play Eve Teschmacher. Frank Grillo will reprise his role as Rick Flag, Sr. The movie will also bring several DC heroes into the story.
Aaron Pierre will play John Stewart, Nathan Fillion will return as Guy Gardner, and Edi Gathegi will reprise his role as Mister Terrific. Milly Alcock will also appear as Supergirl. Meanwhile, Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona are set to appear in undisclosed roles. Arjona’s character remains unconfirmed, although reports have suggested that she could play either Maxima or Wonder Woman. There is also speculation surrounding Eva De Dominici and a possible role connected to Diana Prince. Those reports have not been officially confirmed.
