Milly Alcock’s preparation for Supergirl is offering fans a new look at how the DCU’s newest hero is taking shape. While stepping into the role of Kara Zor-El comes with major expectations, Alcock recently revealed she leaned on a familiar face for help. Interestingly, her guidance came from fellow DCU star David Corenswet.
As excitement builds for the upcoming film, Alcock shared that learning how to portray one of Supergirl’s signature powers was not easy at first. However, Corenswet helped make the process smoother.

During an appearance at CCXP Mexico, Alcock opened up about preparing for the physical demands of the role. In particular, she discussed trying to understand how to make flying look believable on screen.
She explained:
“David was on set, and I asked him for advice about everything, and he was very lovely, very warm.”
Moreover, she recalled asking him specifically about portraying flight:
“But yeah, I was just, like, ‘How do you fly? How does it work? What do I do? Help me!’”
This Supergirl Flying Training Advice quickly caught fans’ attention. After all, Corenswet had already gone through similar challenges while playing Superman. Because of that, his experience likely gave Alcock a valuable starting point.

Interestingly, Alcock also revealed she did not reach out to previous actresses who played Supergirl. Instead, she wanted to develop her own version of Kara Zor-El.
She explained:
“They’re just people living their lives. It’s not like we have this blood bond.”
That approach suggests Alcock is building a distinct interpretation of the character. Rather than leaning heavily on past portrayals, she appears focused on creating something original.
At the same time, she has already offered fans a brief preview. Alcock made a cameo at the end of Superman, where Kara arrives at the Fortress of Solitude, meets Clark Kent, and departs with Krypto.
Because of that scene, anticipation for her solo film has only grown.
Supergirl Could Showcase a New Dynamic in the DCU
Beyond the flying discussion, Alcock’s comments may also hint at strong chemistry among DCU leads. Her collaboration with Corenswet could be an early sign of a compelling Kryptonian dynamic across future projects.
That possibility has fueled even more excitement for Supergirl, which is directed by Craig Gillespie and features a major ensemble that includes Jason Momoa, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Eve Ridley.
