Warner Bros. has announced major changes to its upcoming movie lineup, with several highly anticipated projects receiving new release dates. Among these updates, The Batman Part 2 has been delayed and will now arrive in 2028.
The schedule changes come as Warner Bros. continues to adjust its future releases. Moreover, the studio is giving filmmakers additional time to complete production and post-production work. Therefore, these extra months could help ensure that each project reaches theaters in the best possible form.
The Batman Part 2 Moves to 2028 Release Date
The Batman Part 2 will now arrive on February 18, 2028, during the Presidents Day holiday weekend. Previously, the sequel was expected to release earlier; however, production delays pushed the project into a longer development timeline. As a result, the additional time will allow the filmmakers to further refine the movie before its theatrical debut.
According to reports, production was delayed by approximately five months. However, the new release date allows director Matt Reeves and his team additional time to complete post-production and improve the final version of the film.
Despite the delay, Warner Bros. will still release The Batman Part 2 in IMAX, giving fans a larger theatrical experience when Batman returns to Gotham City.
The Batman Part 2 Cast Includes Returning and New Characters
The upcoming sequel will continue Robert Pattinson’s journey as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Furthermore, several familiar faces from the first movie will return, including:
- Robert Pattinson as Batman
- Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth
- Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin
Meanwhile, the cast has expanded with several new additions. Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham, and Sebastian Koch have joined the film in undisclosed roles.
Although Warner Bros. has kept story details under wraps, the expanded cast suggests that The Batman Part 2 could introduce new conflicts and characters within Matt Reeves’ version of Gotham.
Warner Bros. Changes Its 2027–2028 Release Schedule
Along with The Batman Part 2, Warner Bros. has announced several other release date changes across its upcoming slate.
These updates arrive as the proposed Paramount-Warner Bros. merger continues facing delays due to multiple antitrust lawsuits. As a result, Warner Bros. is making adjustments to its future theatrical plans.
J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond Gets New Release Date
J.J. Abrams’ upcoming project The Great Beyond has been pushed to October 1, 2027.
Reports claim Warner Bros. decided to produce 70mm IMAX prints after a recent test screening. Therefore, Abrams will use the extra time to complete the film’s post-production.

Panic Carefully Delayed to 2027
Sam Esmail’s thriller Panic Carefully has also received a new release date. The movie will now arrive in theaters on April 9, 2027.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Julia Roberts, Eddie Redmayne, Brian Tyree Henry, Ben Chaplin, Aidan Gillen, Joe Alwyn, Naledi Murray, and Elizabeth Olsen.
Revenge of La Llorona Receives New Release Date
Meanwhile, Revenge of La Llorona has also been moved to a new release date. The horror sequel will compete with Paramount’s K-Pop: The Debut and Sony’s Live Like That.
The movie follows a fractured family that must face the return of the legendary Weeping Woman. Additionally, the story explores their connection with their estranged curandero grandfather as they battle the supernatural threat.
The Batman Part 2 Delay Gives Matt Reeves More Time
Although the delay may disappoint some fans, the new schedule could benefit The Batman Part 2. The additional time allows Matt Reeves and his team to carefully develop the sequel and complete the film’s final touches.
Moreover, with Robert Pattinson returning as Batman and several new characters joining the story, expectations remain high for the next chapter of DC’s Elseworlds universe.
