Tom Rhys Harries Clayface star has revealed an unexpected connection to Tom Holland while recalling his experience filming the upcoming DCU movie.
Harries plays the iconic DC villain in the first live-action adaptation of Clayface. During production, however, the actor discovered that Holland was staying nearby while filming the next Spider-Man movie. The two actors were working on major superhero projects at the same time, creating an unusual behind-the-scenes connection between the DCU and MCU stars.
Tom Rhys Harries Clayface Star Spotted Tom Holland
Production on Clayface took place last year, with some filming happening at Leavesden in England. During a recent conversation with Kit Connor for Interview Magazine, Harries recalled staying in cottages near the studios. He eventually discovered that Holland was staying nearby while working on Spider-Man.
Harries also spotted the MCU star at a local gym.
“I saw him in the gym a couple of times because they were shooting Spider-Man.”
The encounter gave Harries an opportunity to reflect on Holland’s unusually early rise to superhero stardom.
Harries Praises Holland’s Career
Harries explained that he was struck by the amount of exposure both he and Holland experienced at a young age.
“I’m not drawing parallels between Clayface and Spider-Man, but I was just struck by the exposure you and Tom have had at such a young age.”
The Clayface star also praised Holland for handling that level of attention with grace.
“Navigating that with real grace and good work is so impressive to me. I just know I wouldn’t have been capable of doing that at that age.”
Holland joined the MCU as Spider-Man when he was only 19 years old. Since then, he has continued playing the wall-crawling superhero for more than a decade. The actor has appeared as Spider-Man across seven MCU movies and has received widespread praise for his portrayal of Peter Parker.
Clayface Marks a Major DCU Debut
For Harries, Clayface represents his first superhero movie role. The actor will portray the iconic DC villain in what is expected to be a very different kind of superhero film. The movie is set to become the DCU’s first R-rated feature.
The latest trailer has already showcased disturbing and graphic imagery, suggesting that the film will explore the darker side of the character. At the same time, Clayface will introduce audiences to the DCU’s version of Gotham City.
Could Clayface Connect to The Brave and the Bold?
The introduction of Gotham has also fueled speculation about possible connections between Clayface and The Brave and the Bold. DC Studios is developing The Brave and the Bold as its upcoming Batman movie. As a result, some fans have wondered whether Clayface could eventually cross paths with the DCU’s Batman.
However, no official connection between the two projects has been confirmed. It also remains unclear whether Harries will return as Clayface in future DCU movies.
When Will Clayface Be Released?
Clayface is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 23, 2026. The movie will introduce Tom Rhys Harries as the first live-action version of the iconic villain. Meanwhile, Harries’ story about seeing Tom Holland during production offers an unusual glimpse into the parallel development of major DCU and MCU projects.
For now, audiences will have to wait and see how Harries’ Clayface fits into the wider DC Universe.
