The Batman: Knightfall Part 2 Trailer has arrived, giving fans their first action-packed look at Batman: Knightfall Part 2 – Knightquest. The sequel follows the recent release of Batman: Knightfall Part 1 – Knightfall and continues the animated adaptation of the classic storyline.
Bruce Wayne has been defeated by Bane. Now, Gotham needs a new Batman. Jean-Paul Valley, better known as Azrael, steps forward to take the mantle.
Batman: Knightfall Part 2 Trailer Introduces Azrael
The new Batman: Knightfall Part 2 Trailer reveals Gotham’s situation after Bane breaks Batman. Bruce Wayne remains paralyzed from the waist down and cannot continue protecting the city. With Gotham facing a major threat, Jean-Paul Valley becomes the new Caped Crusader.
However, Nightwing does not appear happy about Bruce’s replacement. Azrael’s more violent approach could also create new problems as he tries to fill Batman’s role.

Bane Takes Control of Gotham
Bane remains at the center of the next chapter. After defeating Batman, the villain takes control of Gotham City and leaves Bruce unable to fight.
The official synopsis sets up the central conflict:
“Batman lies broken at the hands of the villainous mastermind Bane. With Bruce Wayne paralyzed from the waist down and unable to continue as Batman, a new successor must be chosen to defend Gotham City. Jean-Paul Valley, the man also known as Azrael, must take up the mantle of the Batman. But will his more violent methods be enough to stop Bane?”
The question surrounding Azrael’s methods could become one of the sequel’s biggest storylines.
Nightwing Struggles With Gotham’s New Batman
The Batman: Knightfall Part 2 Trailer also highlights Nightwing’s involvement in the story. Dick Grayson has a complicated history with the Batman mantle. However, Jean-Paul Valley’s arrival creates a new source of tension. Azrael does not approach crime-fighting in the same way Bruce does.
His aggressive methods could therefore put him at odds with Nightwing. Supervising producer Rick Morales previously teased a major role for Nightwing in the upcoming films.
“I think I hope, if you’re a fan of Jean Paul Valley, that you’ll be very happy with the next couple of films,” he shared. “And also, I think one of the things that I’m most excited about is to bring Nightwing into it in a real way.”
Two-Face Also Appears in the Trailer
The new Batman: Knightfall Part 2 Trailer also features Two-Face. However, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has not yet revealed who will portray the character. The studio has also not announced the other new additions to the trilogy. The creative team behind Knightquest remains partly unclear as well. There is currently no confirmed writer for the sequel, following the recent confirmation that each chapter of the trilogy has a different writer.
Tim Drake’s Robin Gets a Bigger Role
Tim Drake’s Robin will also play an important part in the next chapter. Morales previously discussed his excitement about adapting this particular period in Tim’s story and exploring his relationship with Nightwing.
“And, you know, one of the things that I always love, because he’s one of my favourite characters in comic books ever, is Tim Drake’s Robin, especially this particular period. Tim Drake,” Morales continued. “And I just love their relationship, you know, that sort of older brother, younger brother sort of relationship that they have. So I think that’s something we’ll get into, and I’m really excited about.”
That relationship could add a more personal element to the larger conflict surrounding Gotham’s new Batman.
Knightquest Continues the Knightfall Story
The Batman: Knightfall Part 2 Trailer sets up the next stage of the trilogy’s adaptation of the Knightfall storyline. Bane has defeated Bruce Wayne, while Azrael now carries the Batman identity. Meanwhile, Nightwing and Tim Drake’s Robin will have important roles as Gotham struggles under Bane’s control.
The sequel will also introduce Two-Face into the story. With Azrael taking over as Batman, the next chapter could explore one of the most controversial periods in the character’s history.
