Hal Jordan’s apparent death remains one of the biggest mysteries in Lanterns. However, the latest footage has raised new questions about what really happened to the legendary Green Lantern.
Lanterns Midseason Trailer Theories Focus on Hal Jordan
One of the most surprising moments in the trailer shows the 2026 version of Hal waking up on the floor of a location resembling the slaughterhouse belonging to “Hector Hammond.” Hal looks toward someone standing over him and asks:
“What are you?”
The person appears to resemble another version of Hal based on their clothing. That moment has become one of the biggest sources of Lanterns Midseason Trailer Theories, especially because the series has already established multiple mysteries surrounding Hal’s past.
Is Hal Jordan Still Alive?
The Lanterns Midseason Trailer Theories also center on whether Hal actually died. Latam Spanish subtitles for Episode 5 reportedly identified the Hal buried under the rubble in 2016 as “Clone Hal.” If accurate, that detail could completely change how viewers understand Hal’s apparent death.
The trailer also shows Hal with a mysterious mark on his arm. That mark appears similar to the one left on John after Zoe used a tissue sample to heal his severe burns. As a result, one possibility is that Hal was healed or resurrected rather than permanently killed. However, Lanterns has not confirmed that explanation.
Could Cloning Explain Hal’s Story?
Another theory suggests that cloning could be connected to Hal’s mysterious fate. The storyline could potentially involve genetic material from multiple members of Hal’s family. Such a development might explain how different versions of Hal could exist within the show’s timeline.
The mystery surrounding Zoe’s grandson could also become important. His possible connection to the Manhunters raises additional questions about the technology and experiments taking place behind the scenes. For now, these remain theories rather than confirmed plot details.
Could Blackest Night Influence Lanterns?
Some Lanterns Midseason Trailer Theories connect Hal’s apparent death to the famous Blackest Night comic storyline by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis. In the comics, Nekron reanimates dead superheroes as Black Lanterns.
The series has not confirmed that it will directly adapt Blackest Night. Still, Hal’s apparent death and the possibility of his return have naturally led to comparisons with the storyline. If the show moves further into the cosmic side of Green Lantern mythology, the connection could become even more significant.
Sinestro May Know More About Hal
Sinestro also appears to hint that Hal’s story is not finished. He tells John:
“Hal didn’t have to die in vain. I know a way…”
The line could suggest that Sinestro knows how Hal might return. It could also connect to the potential formation of the fear-based Sinestro Corps. Another theory suggests that the 2016 version of Hal may have been affected by fear before his apparent death. That could explain some of the unusual events surrounding his disappearance.
Could the Halogram Connect With a Clone?
Another possibility involves the 2006 Halogram. One theory suggests that the consciousness of the Halogram could somehow merge with Hal’s clone.
If that happens, the series could create a new version of Hal who does not carry the same jaded attitude or fear surrounding the loss of his ring. Such a development could also give the character a different place within the evolving DCU. However, there is currently no confirmation that the series will take this route.
What Happens to John Stewart and Guy Gardner?
The Lanterns Midseason Trailer Theories could also affect the future of John Stewart and Guy Gardner. The two characters could remain the DCU’s Green Lanterns in Sector 2814 even if Hal eventually returns.
That would allow the series to continue developing John and Guy while keeping the possibility of Hal becoming a Lantern again. For now, Hal’s ultimate fate remains one of the show’s biggest unanswered questions.
