Matthew Lillard’s Man of Tomorrow role may have finally been revealed, as a new DCU rumor claims the Daredevil: Born Again star will play a longtime DC Comics character in James Gunn’s upcoming sequel.
Could King Faraday Set Up a Future Justice League Movie?
According to @AtlantaDCFans on X, Lillard has reportedly been cast as King Faraday. Lillard’s character has remained a mystery since his involvement in Man of Tomorrow came to light. Fans have speculated that he could portray an established DC superhero. However, Gunn previously debunked claims that Lillard would play an older Barry Allen, also known as The Flash.
King Faraday offers a different possibility. The character first appeared in Danger Trail #1 in 1950 and has a long history in DC Comics. Although Faraday is less recognizable than Amanda Waller or Lex Luthor, his comic-book history could make him an interesting addition to the DCU.
King Faraday plays a significant role in Darwyn Cooke’s acclaimed comic-book series DC: The New Frontier. The story follows Faraday as he investigates the mysterious Centre, eventually leading him to cross paths with Martian Manhunter. Initially, Faraday distrusts superheroes. However, he gradually recognizes their importance and ultimately helps the Justice League confront a threat to humanity.
The comic’s story has fueled speculation that Gunn could adapt elements of The New Frontier for the DCU. If Lillard plays Faraday, the character could potentially become part of a larger storyline that extends beyond Man of Tomorrow. This could even create a connection to a future Justice League movie. However, neither a The New Frontier adaptation nor Lillard’s reported casting as Faraday has received official confirmation. For now, fans should treat the report as a rumor until Gunn or DC Studios provides further details.
More Rumors About Adria Arjona’s Mystery Role
The same X account has also shared new claims about the mysterious character Adria Arjona will reportedly play in Man of Tomorrow. According to the report, Eve De Dominici auditioned for the role eventually associated with Arjona.
Eiza González also reportedly expressed interest in the part. González’s previous enthusiasm for playing Wonder Woman has added another layer to the speculation surrounding Arjona’s character. Some fans believe Arjona could portray the iconic Amazon warrior, while others suspect she may play Maxima, the powerful alien queen from DC Comics. However, neither possibility has been confirmed. It also remains unclear whether De Dominici will appear in the movie in a different role. Until DC Studios reveals more information, Arjona’s character will remain one of the sequel’s biggest mysteries.
