Sebastian Stan on The Batman: Part 2 Transition

While promoting Fjord at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, Stan discussed his move from Marvel to DC. He described the experience as unexpected, even after spending years working in the superhero genre.

“It’s pretty wild. Yeah. I mean, I thought I knew something about the comic book world. Turns out I didn’t.”

Sebastian Stan on The Batman: Part 2 ’s comments suggest that joining the DC universe has given him a different perspective on comic book stories. Although he already has extensive experience with superhero characters, DC’s world appears to offer something new for the actor. His character in The Batman: Part 2 remains officially unknown. However, rumors have linked Stan to Victor Zsasz, a brutal Batman villain from the comics. DC Studios has not confirmed the casting rumor. Therefore, fans should treat Stan’s reported role as speculation for now.

Stan Reunites With Scarlett Johansson

Sebastian Stan on The Batman: Part 2 also involves a reunion with Scarlett Johansson. The two actors previously appeared together in several MCU projects, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Stan spoke positively about working with Johansson again.

“I really enjoyed working with her, and I’d worked with her on anything, so it’s a nice continuation.”

Johansson’s role remains equally mysterious. Reports suggest that her character could become involved in a storyline connected to Bruce Wayne. However, DC has not officially revealed her character or confirmed those reports. Their reunion adds another interesting connection between the MCU and DC. Still, both stars are expected to play completely different characters from their Marvel roles.

Robert Pattinson Returns as Batman

Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne and Batman in The Batman: Part 2. Matt Reeves is also returning as director, continuing the grounded crime-driven approach established by the 2022 movie. The sequel’s story remains largely secret. However, reports indicate that the movie will primarily take place during winter in Gotham City.

A teaser reportedly released in July showed Pattinson’s Batman standing amid falling snow. The imagery suggests that Reeves could give the sequel an even colder and darker atmosphere. Meanwhile, fans are waiting to learn how Stan and Johansson fit into Batman’s next case.

The Batman: Part II Brings Back Familiar Faces

Several major stars from the first movie will return for the sequel. Jeffrey Wright will reprise his role as Jim Gordon, while Andy Serkis will return as Alfred Pennyworth. Colin Farrell will also return as Oz Cobb, better known as the Penguin. His character could have an important role in Gotham’s evolving criminal landscape.

Stan and Johansson are also expected to play significant parts. However, DC has yet to officially reveal their characters. If Stan does portray Victor Zsasz, the sequel could introduce another dangerous criminal into Batman’s world. For now, though, that connection remains unconfirmed.

When Will The Batman: Part II Release?

Sebastian Stan on The Batman: Part 2 comes as anticipation continues to build around the sequel. The movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters on February 18, 2028. The long wait gives DC plenty of time to reveal more details about the story and its mysterious new characters. Until then, fans will have to wait for official confirmation about Stan’s rumored role and Johansson’s part in the film.

With Pattinson returning as Batman and Reeves expanding his version of Gotham, The Batman: Part 2 remains one of DC’s most anticipated upcoming movies.
