The Batman Part II Set Photos have revealed a major new look at Robert Pattinson’s Batman as the highly anticipated sequel resumes filming in the UK.
The new footage shows Batman riding the same police motorcycle seen in earlier set footage. However, the latest appearance offers a much better look at the sequel’s updated Batsuit. The new costume features a bloodied cowl, longer ears, and a more heavily armored design.
The Batman Part II Set Photos Show a New Batsuit
The latest The Batman Part II Set Photos show Pattinson’s Batman riding through the streets on the police motorcycle. Batman previously used the same motorcycle while attempting to escape the Gotham City Police Department.
The new footage provides one of the clearest looks yet at the sequel’s Batsuit. The costume appears significantly more armored than the version seen in the first movie. The cowl also features longer ears and appears to be covered in blood. The overall design has already drawn comparisons to Batman’s appearance in the Arkham Knight video game.
Why Is the GCPD Pursuing Batman?
The latest set footage could also provide another clue about Batman’s relationship with the Gotham City Police Department. The footage appears to show Batman once again at odds with the GCPD. That raises an important question about why Gotham’s police force may now be pursuing him.
At the end of the first movie, Batman had become a symbol of hope after helping Gotham’s citizens during the devastating flood. However, the situation could have changed by the time the sequel begins. One possibility is that Batman could face blame for the actions of The Riddler and the chaos that followed his attack on Gotham. Still, the movie’s actual story remains a mystery.
The Batman Part II Villain Remains a Mystery
Despite the growing amount of set footage, the sequel’s main villain has not been officially revealed. That leaves the direction of the story largely unknown. The new conflict with the GCPD could potentially form part of a larger mystery. However, there is currently no confirmed explanation for Batman’s apparent confrontation with the police.
Matt Reeves is returning to direct the sequel, which he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin. The filmmaker has previously emphasized the grounded and distinctive approach of this version of Gotham.
Robert Pattinson Explains His Unique Batman
Pattinson has previously discussed why he believes his version of Batman would be difficult to incorporate into the main DCU.
“I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world,” Pattinson said.
The actor also explained how the extended production process affected his connection to the character and Gotham.
“It’s one of the only characters, I guess, because of the length of the shoots, but also it’s such a specific kind of [style], the tone of it gets inside you.”
Pattinson also described the unusual environment in which much of the movie was filmed.
“It’s so funny, because Gotham is Watford. It’s a shed in Watford. There’s something so destabilising about when you’re just, you’re in the dark the whole time.”
He continued by describing spending months working in that environment and how difficult it could be to maintain a sense of connection with the outside world.
The DCU Still Needs Its Batman
While Pattinson continues developing his version of Batman, DC Studios has yet to cast the Dark Knight for The Brave and the Bold. The project is expected to introduce the DCU’s own Batman, separate from Pattinson’s version.
The Batman Part II exists within the Elseworlds continuity, meaning Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne is not currently part of James Gunn’s main DCU. The two Batman projects have also experienced lengthy development periods. Their futures could potentially be affected by the new Warner Bros.-Paramount/Skydance regime. For now, however, the two versions remain separate.
