The first trailer for Batman: Knightfall – Part 2: Knightquest gives fans their first look at Pablo Schreiber as Dark Knight. The actor voices Jean-Paul Valley, also known as Azrael, who takes over the Batman mantle after Bane defeats Bruce Wayne.
The trailer shows Gotham dealing with the aftermath of Bane’s attack while Valley steps into the role previously held by Bruce.
Pablo Schreiber as Dark Knight Takes Over Gotham
The Pablo Schreiber as Dark Knight trailer introduces Jean-Paul Valley as Gotham’s new Batman. Bruce Wayne cannot continue protecting the city after Bane breaks his back. With Gotham still facing a major criminal threat, Valley takes up the mantle.
The trailer shows the new Batman fighting criminals who remain on Gotham’s streets after Bane’s assault. However, Valley’s methods could create new problems.

Bane Leaves Bruce Wayne Broken
The events of Batman: Knightfall – Part 1: Knightfall directly lead to Valley’s arrival. Bane destroys Arkham Asylum and releases its inmates, sending numerous criminals back onto Gotham’s streets.
Bruce attempts to bring the situation under control. His efforts eventually lead to a confrontation with Bane. The battle ends with Bane breaking Bruce’s back. With Bruce unable to continue as Batman, Gotham needs someone else to protect the city. That person becomes Jean-Paul Valley.
Azrael Becomes Gotham’s New Batman
The Pablo Schreiber as Dark Knight performance brings Azrael into the center of the sequel. Jean-Paul Valley is already an established character in the Batman mythology. However, the Knightquest storyline gives him an entirely different responsibility.
He becomes the new Batman while Bruce remains sidelined. The trailer shows Valley stepping into the costume and taking on criminals across Gotham. Yet his approach to fighting crime differs from Bruce’s. That difference could become one of the sequel’s central conflicts.
Pablo Schreiber Leads the Knightquest Story
The Pablo Schreiber as Dark Knight casting gives the second chapter a new central figure. Anson Mount returns as Bruce Wayne/Batman, while Michael Mando reprises his role as Bane. Jack Griffo also returns as Tim Drake/Robin.
With Bruce unable to operate as Batman, Valley becomes the main figure protecting Gotham. At the same time, Bruce’s continued presence could create tension between the former Dark Knight and his replacement.
Knightquest Adapts the Classic Batman Story
Batman: Knightfall – Part 2: Knightquest adapts the Knightquest section of the classic Knightfall comic storyline. The original storyline was published between 1993 and 1994. The animated movie serves as the second chapter of Warner Bros. Animation’s planned three-part adaptation.
The first movie established Bane’s assault on Gotham and Bruce Wayne’s devastating defeat. The sequel now explores what happens when someone else takes Batman’s place.
When Will Knightquest Be Released?
Warner Bros. Animation plans to release Batman: Knightfall – Part 2: Knightquest later in 2026. The studio has not announced an exact release date yet. The third movie is planned for 2027 and will conclude the trilogy with the KnightsEnd storyline.
For now, the Pablo Schreiber as Dark Knight trailer offers the first major look at Azrael’s time as Batman. With Bruce Wayne sidelined and Gotham still facing Bane’s criminal army, Jean-Paul Valley now has to prove whether he can truly protect the city as its new Dark Knight.
