Viral Poster Imagines Robert Pattinson’s Batman in DCU

A powerful new fan-made poster has taken the internet by storm, fueling buzz about Pattinson’s Batman in DCU crossover potential. The artwork shows Robert Pattinson’s Batman standing alongside David Corenswet’s Superman, igniting speculation across fandoms—even though DC Studios has already made their stance clear.

Fans quickly praised the poster, calling it “perfectly balanced” and “a dream crossover.” The buzz once again reignites the idea of combining Pattinson’s gritty realism with the hopeful tone of James Gunn’s Superman.

James Gunn Confirms: Robert Pattinson Is Not DCU’s Batman

In a press event held earlier this year, James Gunn shut down rumors directly:

“It’s certainly not the plan”

he stated regarding Pattinson joining the DCU.

Co-CEO Peter Safran supported that message, saying:

We love him, but we’ve got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That’s the plan for The Brave and the Bold.

This confirms that Pattinson’s Batman in DCU crossover won’t happen—at least, not officially.

Why DC Separates Batman Universes

DC Studios has created the “Elseworlds” label for standalone, non-canon stories. Pattinson’s version lives under this banner, along with:

  • Matt Reeves’ The Batman trilogy
  • Todd Phillips’ Joker films
  • Any other stories outside the main continuity

This approach allows creative freedom while keeping the main DCU consistent in tone and storytelling.

Interestingly, James Gunn admitted they considered combining the universes:

We talked about it… Pattinson’s Batman is great, but it doesn’t work tonally with what we’re doing.”

While the idea had merit, Gunn ultimately chose to build the DCU Batman from scratch to maintain a cohesive narrative and emotional tone.

The DCU’s Official Batman: What We Know So Far

The DCU will introduce its own Batman in The Brave and the Bold, focused on a complex relationship between:

  • Bruce Wayne, the Caped Crusader
  • Damian Wayne, his biological son and the new Robin

Gunn describes it as “a strange father-and-son story,” inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic arc.

The Brave and the Bold is still in active development. No casting has been announced yet. Additionally, Mattson Tomlin—co-writer of The Batman Part II—is not involved in the DCU project. This ensures that Pattinson’s Batman in DCU future remains strictly in fan imaginations.

The Batman – Part II Still in Progress

Peter Safran confirmed that director Matt Reeves hasn’t yet submitted a final script for The Batman Part II.Although some reports claimed it would be ready by Memorial Day 2025, insiders say the screenplay is still being finalized. However, DC leadership remains “very encouraged” by what they’ve read so far.

While Pattinson’s Batman in DCU crossover isn’t part of DC Studios’ roadmap, fan creations keep the idea alive. The viral poster reflects a deeper desire—fans want to see bold, artistic combinations that break the mold. For now, though, Pattinson’s path remains Elseworlds, and a brand-new Batman will rise within the DCU.
