Alan Ritchson, star of Reacher, has long been a fan-favorite choice for DC roles. Many hoped he would play the DCU’s Batman, but he recently confirmed that the Dark Knight is not in his future after a meeting with DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn.

Despite this, Ritchson remains open to other characters in the DC Universe. During the Toronto International Film Festival, he shared his thoughts on potential DCU roles and reflected on his past as Aquaman.

Alan Ritchson on Returning as Aquaman

Ritchson first gained attention as Aquaman in Smallville, and fans have wondered if he might reprise the role now that Jason Momoa is moving from Arthur Curry to Lobo for next year’s Supergirl movie.

However, he politely declined:

“No, I would never take that from [Jason Momoa]. I have too much respect,” Ritchson said. “I would definitely want to explore new horizons, and I have a feeling we may. We’ll see.”

This statement shows both his respect for Momoa and his interest in exploring new opportunities in the DCU.

Alan Ritchson Addresses Batman Rumors and Potential Roles

Ritchson has also been linked to other DC characters, including Wildcat, Shazam, Green Arrow, and Captain Atom. When asked about Wildcat, he admitted it would be a “fun” role and suggested that discussions with Gunn about possible roles may already be underway.

Regarding Batman speculation, he clarified:

“Well, it’s not a rumour that James Gunn is a fan. He said it himself. And am I a fan of James Gunn? Absolutely. I don’t want to mislead people. Words have been exchanged about Batman. But I strongly don’t think that Batman is in my future. I do think there is something in my future with DC. And I would like that to remain true.”

This confirms that while Batman may not be in his path, Alan Ritchson is likely to take on another DC hero in the near future.

Batman Status in the DCU and The Brave and the Bold

As for The Brave and the Bold, James Gunn and Peter Safran still haven’t cast Batman. Robert Pattinson’s Batman will return in 2027’s The Batman Part II, which is expected to stay an “Elseworlds” story.

This highlights that while Alan Ritchson won’t be stepping into Batman’s shoes, the DCU continues to expand with multiple versions of the Dark Knight across different projects.

Alan Ritchson’s Future in the DC Universe

After portraying Hawk in Titans and achieving mainstream success with Reacher, Alan Ritchson has proven himself as a versatile actor capable of leading major projects. With James Gunn actively shaping the new DCU, fans can expect him to take on a significant role.

Whether it ends up being Wildcat, Captain Atom, or another hero, Alan Ritchson’s return to the DC Universe seems inevitable, exciting fans with the possibilities.
